Terms and conditions
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing, downloading, or using material from the CFA Digital Library ("Material"), you agree to comply with these Terms and Conditions.
If you do not agree to these Terms and Conditions, you must not access, download, or use the Material.
2. Ownership
All Material within the CFA Digital Library remains the property of the Country Fire Authority (CFA) or its licensors and is protected by applicable copyright and intellectual property laws.
Nothing in these Terms and Conditions transfers ownership of the Material to the user.
3. Licence to Use Material
Once you have gained access to the Digital Library, you must submit an order through the library’s platform. If approval is granted then CFA grants users a one-off, non-exclusive, royalty-free, revocable licence to download and use approved Material solely for the purpose specified in their request and approved by CFA.
The licence is limited to a one-time download for the approved use and does not extend to any other purpose unless CFA provides prior written approval. The download must be deleted after the use has been fulfilled.
4. Permitted Use
Users may:
- download and use Material for the approved purpose;
- make reasonable technical modifications (such as resizing) required for publication or distribution, provided the integrity and meaning of the Material is not altered.
5. Prohibited Use
Users must not:
- use Material for any purpose other than that approved by CFA;
- use Material in advertising, sponsorship, endorsement, or commercial brand campaigns;
- sell, licence, sublicense, redistribute, or supply Material as a standalone product;
- falsely imply CFA endorsement of a product, service, organisation, or individual;
- use Material in a misleading, defamatory, unlawful, or offensive manner; or
- remove copyright, attribution, or other ownership information where supplied.
Any proposed use outside the approved purpose requires prior written permission from CFA.
6. Attribution Requirements
Wherever reasonably practicable, users must provide the following attribution:
General credit: "Footage / Photo(s) courtesy of Country Fire Authority (CFA)"
Where CFA supplies a photographer credit, that credit must also be included where relevant and practicable.
7. Safety and Appropriate Use
CFA is committed to child safety and protecting the dignity, safety, and wellbeing of all people.
Where Material includes people, users agree that:
- the Material will be used in a manner that respects their dignity, safety, and welfare;
- the Material will not be used in any exploitative, sensationalist, misleading, or inappropriate context;
- the Material will not be used in a way that may cause harm, distress, embarrassment, or reputational damage; and
- the Material will not be used to imply behaviour, opinions, circumstances, or relationships that are untrue or inappropriate.
8. Revocation of Licence
CFA may revoke access to Material or require the cessation of its use at any time where these Terms and Conditions have been breached or where CFA reasonably determines continued use is no longer appropriate.
Users must comply with any such direction within a reasonable timeframe.
9. Disclaimer
Material is provided on an "as is" basis. While CFA takes reasonable steps to ensure the accuracy and suitability of Material, CFA makes no guarantee that the Material is complete, accurate, current, or fit for a particular purpose.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, CFA is not liable for any loss, damage, claim, cost, or expense arising from the use of, or reliance on, Material obtained from the CFA Digital Library.
